New Delhi, December 2011: Designer Rahul Mishra’s launches his first ever-Indian wear Collection in Delhi at Ogaan, Hauz Khas. A special evening is hosted to preview his collection.Rahul Mishra’s collection depicts handloom couture, and is one of the few people working, also a pioneer with the same. He is designing the handloom fabrics with motifs on weaves instead of the standard embroidery.
‘Jaama’ his collection signifies the attire of great Mughals. Jaama, for Rahul here reinterprets the contemporary progressive graphics inspired by the opulent domes of the Islamic art & architecture. The translation of which has resulted into a beautiful hand crafted/embroidered line.
On Handlooms, the finest Indian Motifs are engineered to perfection with a process like Hand-embroidery on the loom, thus illustrating the Splendor of Chanderi in a new Avatar.
To celebrate the spirit of Festivity, you see an eclectic mix of exclusively embroidered Lehenga, Sarees, Jackets & Kurtas.On this occasion guest included Designer Gautam Gupta,Actor Naseer Abdulla and many more were presented.
Rahul Mishra, Post Graduate from NID, won the Best Student Designer award and followed it by winning the Pride of NID. After creating waves on the Indian Emerging Designers scene, Rahul went on to be the first Non – European Designer to win the prestigious Scholarship at the Istituto Marangoni, Milan. He is a staunch believer in integrating the rich heritage of Indian craft with the constantly varying pulse of global fashion.
