A Visual History of Indian Modern Art

Delhi Art Gallery launches the book – Delhi Art Gallery for India Art Fair 2015 on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at DLF Emporio New Delhi.DLF Emporio hosts an exclusive preview of magnificent artworks by famous artists like MF Hussain, FN Souza, Raza and many more in association with Delhi Art Gallery. The showcase begins on 18th January until 3rd February 2015.

Delhi Art Gallery participates at India Art Fair, 2015, with the largest number of works on display by any single gallery in the largest exhibition space in a standalone building. Its exhibit of close to one-thousand artworks, consisting of paintings and sculpture, is presented as part of a careful and rigorous curatorial exercise that traces the journey of Indian modern art through ten sections, titled A VISUAL HISTORY OF INDIAN MODERN ART. These ten sections– Pre-modern art, Academic realism, Bengal Revivalism & Beyond, High Modernism in Bengal, The Progressives, A New Nationalism from Baroda, Alternate Sensibilities, Chennai and the South, From Spirituality to Eroticism and Sculpture – are each accompanied by a substantial, designed volume of art scholarship – featuring artwork plates and a timeline of the art of the section. The books will be issued as a set of ten books on the occasion of the art fair, to be available for purchase individually or as a set, will create a vivid and richly documented visual history of Indian modern art.
