Classic Meets Contemporary

When classic meets contemporary, a new amalgamation of cuts and sensibilities are being created. Rina Dhaka successfully fuses the modern cuts with traditional techniques drawing inspiration from tangible and intangible textures in nature bringing out a relaxed yet alluring look.

The show started off with a silk jersey dress with gota piping followed by a range of dresses in crèpe, linen, tussar silk, chiffon, lace and cotton in an earthy colour palette of taupe, pink browns, ivory, grey, acid green, dusty pink, ochre, crème, yellow and white, while metallics were spotted occasionally. Flared cotton dresses had discharge prints immediately followed by acid green tie & dye combined with bead work and a criss-cross tube dress. Pink linen halter jumpsuit looked alluring with piping details. A range of ruffles, cowls and pleats added to the romanticism and remained the oomph factor throughout the collection.

Asymmetric hemlines and fabrics like tussar and linen jersey created creases and folds while tassles added movement creating the relaxed feel. The colours and the fabrics perfectly blend with the summer mood. Elements like pleats and cowl depict the modern sensibilities while techniques like block printing and tie & dye keep the look traditional and sensual.
