Currently based in New Delhi, Rajesh Pratap Singh belongs to Rajasthan. Subsequent to his graduation from NIFT Delhi he worked in the Fashion Industry for two years in India and Italybefore introducing his own line of men’s and women’s clothing in 1997.
Rajesh has over the years created his unique signature style that subtly draws from his roots to craft artisinal garments that stand apart due to their faultlessly clean lines and careful detailing. His work epitomizes simplicity, yet on closer look reveals his obsessive attention to detail. Rajesh’s reserve reflects in his styling which combines the modern with the traditional in an understated design aesthetic.
Rajesh is closely associated with Indian fabric mills and has had developmental and research based in India. Textile experimentation spans both the very high tech as well as the low tech. He is working closely with backward and forward integration as well as technical improvements in “Khadi” (handspun and handwoven fine cotton and wool). He is also working with a cooperative society for developingIndia’s finest Cashmere.
Rajesh is a recipient of several awards in recognition of his design and creativity. He received the Kingfisher Designer of the Year Award both in 2001 and 2005. He also received the Best MenswearDesigner award at the Fashion Awards held in 1996. Elle (May 2007) has named him “Designer of the Year” after the India Fashion Week.
Internationally, Rajesh showcases his collections in Paris in as part of the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week. Rajesh has also been associated with French theatre while doing costumes designing for the Opera “Padmavati by Albert Roussel” . The opera was staged at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris in March, 2008 followed by an encore in Spoletto in Italy in June 2008.
Domestic retail presence takes the form of six standalone flagship stores in India and select multibrand boutiques. Internationally the brand retails with some select boutiques in the world.
