Kavita Bhartia at WIFW S/S 12

[tab:Feed] INDO-BOHEMIAN FLAIR

Rajasthani folk singers welcomed the audience at Kavita Bhartia’s Spring Summer 2012 show, which had a strong bohemian flavor. The fashion designer was inspired by the unique visual of a kaleidoscope. Chiffons and silks in opulent tones of formica blue, porcelain green, misty jade and rose pinks were combined with imperial purple and deep ultramarine, which dominated the colour palette.
Models styled with chunky head gears walked in vibrant tie-and-dyed jumpsuits that opened the show followed by shaded short dresses in red-fuchsia and yellow. Hint of sequins was seen in printed umbra balloon skirt. Multi-hued shaded fabrics were combined with embroidery techniques to reclaim traditional Indian techniques. Umbra dying was merged with vibrant and modern tropical prints that were influenced by Persian motifs. Multi-coloured patchwork and chunky metallic embellishments were ideally crafted for modern day urban nomad. Crushed silk and printed leggings were well received by the audience. The fashion designer succeeded in creating an indo-boho chic look with plenty of surface treatment, which was evident in the fifty-two ensembles presented in the evening.
